I am seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Senior Bookkeeper in Waterloo, ON for my client in the manufacturing industry. This individual will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support overall office administration functions. This role is responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping, month-end reporting, payroll, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and administrative coordination.
The ideal candidate is someone hands-on, and happy in a long-term bookkeeping role, with experience managing accounting functions from a small public accounting firm or entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle AR and AP, including invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and customer/vendor setup
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and month-end adjustments
- Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including cash flow reporting
- Process payroll and related remittances accurately and on time
- File HST returns and maintain compliance with applicable regulations
- Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external accountants for financial statement compilation and tax return preparation
- Maintain organized financial records, filing systems, and supporting documentation
- Process payments and assist with cash flow management
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances
- Provide recommendations for process and workflow improvements
- Support management with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis
- Coordinate travel arrangements and process related expense reports for management
- Source and purchase office supplies and support day-to-day office operations
- Assist with Health & Safety administration
- Organize office events and company functions
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience working in a small public accounting firm as a bookkeeper or Accountant OR within an owner-managed business handling full-cycle bookkeeping
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, month-end processes, payroll, and reconciliations
- Dependable and hands-on individual
