A great chance to collaborate, and learn alongside, highly skilled engineers whilst building up core investment risk and data engineering knowledge. New joiners will get the chance to work on the latest and best technologies for the challenges ahead.
Role Responsibilities
- Set and drive multi-year technical strategy for significant areas of the Risk Engineering platform, aligning with business goals
- Lead the design and architecture of complex, cross-team systems — making decisions that minimise the cost of future change
- Deliver high-impact projects end-to-end, from architecture through to production deployment and operational excellence
- Champion the software products of the Risk Engineering team and drive technical planning and project management
- Champion engineering best practices across multiple teams, including CI/CD, automated testing, and scalable design patterns
- Conduct code reviews and provide deep technical guidance to engineers across the function
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis across systems
- Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
- Contribute to the evolution of our engineering culture and platform strategy
- Extensive professional experience in C#/.NET with a track record of delivering complex, cross-team technical projects
- Deep understanding of system architecture and distributed systems design
- Proven experience shaping technical strategy — making sound technical choices in ambiguous situations and driving alignment across teams
- Strong knowledge of database technologies (SQL Server, ClickHouse, MongoDB) including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning at scale
- Experience with data pipeline technologies (e.g. Kafka) in production environments
- Embracing agentic engineering — ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and drive adoption across the team
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive consensus
- Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
- Strong advocate for collaborative development practices and continuous improvement
- Experience with Python and its scientific ecosystem (numpy, pandas, scipy)
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and workflow orchestration (Airflow)
- Experience with large-scale data platforms and data engineering at multi-terabyte scale
- Familiarity with financial market data, risk management, or quantitative systems development
- Track record of contributing to engineering culture — tech talks, open-source, or conference presentations
- Modern office located in the OfficeX campus with easy access to transport and amenities.
- Hybrid working model
- Competitive compensation package
- 25 days holiday allowance
- Premium Health insurance
- Employee Assistance program
- Referral Bonus
- Additional days off for long service and volunteering
- Multisport card
- Opportunities for professional development including internal tech talks
