Software Engineer, Open Source Security
Indexed description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, C/C++, Java, Rust), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- Experience with open source software development.

- Knowledge or experience working with two or more from the following: open source technologies, security software development, vulnerability assessment, internet infrastructure, distributed and parallel systems, networking, or developing large software systems.
Open source is now widely used not only in Google, but throughout the infrastructure of the modern world. Although open systems are easier to inspect, in practice the complexity is very high and many key components lack the “eyes” needed to make them trustworthy.
As a Software Engineer in the Google Open Source Security Team (GOSST) team in Singapore, you will help expand our capabilities in generating insights about the open source supply chain, as well as activate them throughout Google's overall software factory. Much of this work is made available for free to Open Source Security (OSS) maintainers through OSS projects, APIs and sites, as well as being integrated into various internal and external developer tooling.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
