Role Purpose
The Production & Development Manager is responsible for the end-to-end process of gifting and packaging, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that meet brand standards, cost objectives, and sustainability goals. This role combines supplier management and research, product development as well as operational tasks linked to production projects such as transportation coordination.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager in Paris, the position works closely with the Paris HQ team and the profile has strong technical knowledge, design affinity, organizational skills and a developed supplier network for high quality production.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers for gifting and packaging.
- Build and maintain a robust supplier network across China and Asia.
- Audit suppliers and ensure compliance with ethical sourcing, quality standards, and sustainability requirements.
Production
- Oversee production timelines, capacity planning, and quality control for projects manufactured in Asia.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to specifications and brand guidelines.
- Develop production guidelines to ensure supplier delivers according to creative expectations.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions proactively.
- Conduct rigorous quality checks to maintain excellence.
- Develop prototypes and samples, ensuring feasibility and cost-effectiveness whilst achieving delivery of creative vision.
- Drive innovation in materials, CSR initiatives, and production techniques.
Cost & Budget Management
- Lead tender for all production projects.
- Negotiate costs to stay within budget.
- Manage invoicing and coordinate supplier shipments efficiently.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Act as the key liaison between Asia suppliers on own projects and Paris HQ to ensure cohesive project development.
- Reporting and weekly meetings with Paris HQ, providing updates, reports, and feedback on progress and challenges.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 8–10 years in production and procurement, preferably in luxury or premium sector
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of luxury gifting, packaging, manufacturing processes, preferably within luxury fashion brand
- Design Sensibility: Ability to understand and appreciate design aesthetics.
- Supplier Network: Proven ability to leverage a strong supplier network and deep understanding of Chinese production ecosystems.
- CSR Knowledge: Familiarity with Corporate Social Responsibility principles, ethical sourcing practices and compliance
- Technical Skills:Solid understanding of materials, finishing techniques, and quality assurance standards; engineering or design degree preferred.
- Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management abilities.
- Languages: Fluent in English and Mandarin (preferred).
- Mobility: Availability to travel regularly to supplier locations.
