Duties To Include
- Coordinates, reviews, manages and maintains an error management program for the DeGowin Blood Center.
- Participates in document review, including quality assurance documents.
- Audits quality and operational processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Participates in the development and review of policies, processes and procedures related to the quality management program.
- Assists in the preparation and on-site hosting of external inspections.
The Department of Pathology is part of UI Health Care, a comprehensive health sciences center that serves Iowa and the region, as well as patients referred from the United States and overseas. The Clinical Laboratories are well recognized for providing outstanding and comprehensive care to the patients we serve. The breadth and depth of services provided are amongst the best in the country. Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 1-3 years laboratory or quality program experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with effective leadership skills is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, to meet deadlines efficiently, to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to be highly self-motivated is required.
- MT(ASCP) (or other ASCP certification) or NCA certification with specialty certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB).
- Experience in an academic Medical Center, preferably in Transfusion Medicine.
- Knowledge of the regulations and accrediting standards of the following agencies: CMS, TJC, CAP, and AABB.
