This is a full-time, 40 hours-per-week position with flexible work hours. Pay range, depending on experience, is $24.23 to $35.14 hr. This is a non-exempt position. Physical work location in Bellingham, WA.


Description of duties:

  • Coordinates the publication of conference proceedings content, including manuscripts and other digital media.
  • Works with conference chairs and authors to ensure timely, accurate publication, while maintaining appropriate editorial standards and style.
  • Maintains daily correspondence with authors, conference chairs, and other departments within SPIE to ensure that deadlines are met.


Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent editorial or publishing project management experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with multiple overlapping deadlines.
  • Strong facility with word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.


Compensation and Benefits package includes:

  • Competitive wages, annual discretionary bonus. Pay range, depending on experience, is $24.23 to $35.14 hr. This is a non-exempt position.

  • Defined retirement contribution: SPIE provides an automatic 5% contribution, PLUS SPIE offers UP to 5% matching contributions and 25% vesting each year, 100% vested after 4 years.
  • Paid Time Off plan begins at 31 days per year.
  • Health savings accounts are partially funded by SPIE.

Location: Physical work location in Bellingham, WA. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
