Head Start Teacher Aide, Syracuse west side

Schedule

FULL-TIME, weekdays 7:30am to 3:30pm, 42 weeks per year with 10-week temporary unpaid layoff each summer. Paid leave includes all federal holidays and December/February/April school district breaks, plus additional accumulated paid leave.

Starting Pay Rate

$16.38 PER HOUR

QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or GED. One year of experience working with preschoolers in a group setting. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure that all children assigned to classroom are supervised at all times. Perform regular counts of assigned children to ensure that all are accounted for.
• Assist in implementing a child-centered, quality early childhood program, and providing a safe, warm and supportive atmosphere that will help support each child's individual growth and development as well as develop a continuing positive attitude toward learning.
• Support the contribution of parent involvement and assist in the implementation of this in all aspects of the educational program.
• Support and assist site staff as needed, including riding the school bus as a monitor, performing data entry duties, and assisting with observations and evaluations of children.
• Report incidents or concerns of child abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
