The Institute of Eye Surgery is a growing organisation and is Ireland’s only network of clinics offering all ocular subspecialties under one roof. With sites in Waterford, Kildare, Westmeath and Cork, IOES provides expert care in cataracts, glaucoma, medical retina, vitreoretinal, corneal refractive, ocular surface disease, oculoplastics, paediatrics, neuro-ophthalmology and aesthetics. We are committed to developing our people and ensuring they have the tools, training, and structure needed to succeed.


Due to continued growth we are now seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Clinical Trainer to support the development of our clinical teams in Clane, Co. Kildare. This is a dedicated training role with a strong focus on onboarding, skills development, and ensuring high standards of patient care.


About the Role


  • Deliver structured training for technicians, nurses and reception teams.
  • Support new starters during onboarding and assess ongoing competencies.
  • Provide guidance in clinic flow, diagnostic testing, documentation and scribing.
  • Maintain training records and support staff in meeting certification requirements.
  • Offer specialist support in IVT processes, scheduling and forecasting.
  • Promote quality, safety and consistent clinical standards across sites.
  • Travel required between IoES locations.


Requirements


  • 3+ years’ experience in a busy patient‑facing clinical environment
  • JCAHPO qualification or currently working toward it (desirable).
  • Ophthalmic experience essential (exams, scribing experience desirable).
  • Strong understanding of clinical operations and patient care.
  • Full clean driving licence.
