Application Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a technically skilled and experienced Roofing Application Engineer to support the design, certification, and execution of commercial TPO single-ply roofing systems. This role ensures compliance with industry standards (including FM Global and UL), supports system design and documentation, and provides technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of commercial roofing systems with hands-on field experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Engineering & Certification

· Manage and coordinate FM Global and UL certification processes for TPO roofing systems

· Interpret and apply FM Data Sheets, UL listings, and applicable building codes

· Support the development and maintenance of compliant roofing system assemblies

2. System Design & Standardization

· Develop and standardize TPO roofing system configurations and accessory materials

· Evaluate and approve compatible components to ensure system performance and integrity

· Collaborate with internal teams to optimize system design and compliance

3. Project Support & Field Services

· Conduct roof surveys, site inspections, and field evaluations as required

· Prepare technical proposals, system details, specifications, and bid documentation

· Perform wind uplift calculations and develop complete technical submittals

4. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

· Provide technical support to sales teams, contractors, and clients throughout project execution

· Troubleshoot installation and performance issues and provide application guidance

· Ensure timely and professional resolution of technical issues

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or related field preferred

· Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial roofing, with a focus on TPO or single-ply systems

· Experience with FM Global and UL certification processes required

· Strong understanding of TPO roofing systems, application methods, and system assemblies

· Knowledge of accessory materials, fastening systems, and compatibility requirements

· Experience preparing wind uplift calculations and technical submittals

· Working knowledge of U.S. commercial building codes (Texas experience preferred)

· Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

· Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities

· Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant technical tools

· Willingness to travel to job sites as required

· Spanish language proficiency (Preferred)

· Familiarity with U.S. and Texas commercial construction practices

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within site locations as required.

Working Environment

· Combination of office and field-based work

· Regular site visits to active construction projects

· Compliance with all safety requirements, including use of PPE
