Requirements
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP building systems design for higher education, municipal, K-12, and/or commercial facilities
- Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD required
- Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
- Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop electrical system designs from concept through construction
- Design lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems that meet project requirements and codes
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations in Revit or AutoCAD
- Perform load calculations, circuiting, panel schedules, and equipment sizing
- Conduct field investigations, site observations, and existing system assessments
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide construction administration support
- Participate in interdisciplinary coordination and quality control reviews to ensure accurate, high-quality deliverables
- Assist in mentoring junior staff and sharing technical expertise across the team
- Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, lighting design, and fire alarm systems
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NEC, IES, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.)
- Ability to produce complete electrical design packages including plans, one-lines, panel schedules, and details
- Experience with short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies preferred
- Knowledge of renewable energy and sustainable design principles a plus.
