Accounting Clerk - Utility Billing

This is a term position with commencement and end dates to be determined.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Track and maintain deposit records for utility meters.
- Monitor customer consumption and create estimated readings.
- Perform daily account maintenance, including the creation, update, and termination of accounts.
- Prepare and enter utility bill readings after meter reading is completed.
- Ensure all utility accounts have valid readings for billing.
- Schedule account disconnection, connections, transfers, repairs.
- Calculate, print, sort, mail, and email monthly utility bills.
- Respond to customer inquiries and manage collection of overdue accounts.
- Issue delinquent notices and red tags.
- Transfer unpaid utility balances to property taxes or collections.
- Balance and post utility accounts to the general ledger.
- Track and reconcile utility deposits.
- Covering cash receipting duties when required and assists with answering telephones and directing calls appropriately.
- Performs general office tasks including typing, filing and photocopying as required.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Minimum Grade 12 Diploma.
- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with diploma or degree in accounting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Experience working in a Public Sector environment, an asset.
- Experience with Vadim Software and CGIS, an asset.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
