Position Summary

The Round Barn Estates Food Truck Line Cook is responsible for preparing high‑quality food in a fast‑paced, compact mobile kitchen environment. This role ensures consistent food quality, maintains a clean and organized workspace, and supports smooth service during events, lunch rushes, catering gigs, and special appearances.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain consistency in portion sizes, flavor, and presentation.
  • Set up, operate, and break down cooking stations inside the food truck.

Service Execution

  • Assist with service during peak periods, ensuring fast and accurate order production.
  • Communicate clearly with the cashier or service window staff to maintain timely order flow.
  • Adapt to changing menus, pop‑up events, and varying production volumes.

Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Keep workstations clean, organized, and properly stocked.
  • Safely operate equipment in a confined mobile kitchen setting.

Inventory & Prep

  • Support daily prep list completion and restocking before and during service.
  • Receive and organize deliveries, rotate stock, and minimize waste.
  • Notify management of low or depleted inventory items.

Equipment & Vehicle Support

  • Assist with food truck opening and closing procedures.
  • Follow safe propane, generator, and equipment usage guidelines.
  • Help maintain cleanliness of the truck interior and exterior.

Qualifications

Required

  • Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or similar role.
  • Ability to work in a small, fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation to meet the truck at designated locations.

Preferred

  • Experience in food trucks or high-volume, quick‑service operations.
  • Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Basic knowledge of food truck operational safety (propane, generators, etc.).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for 6–10 hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work in heat, tight spaces, and outdoor conditions.
  • Comfortable with fast-paced, high-energy environments.
