We are seeking a Development Lead to join our team and support our clients in the Washington DC-Baltimore area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy and viewed both internally and externally as a technical expert and critical technical resource across multiple disciplines.
- This position is contingent upon contract award.
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes
- Develops enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions, and features
- Uses a variety of platforms to provide automated systems applications to customers.
- Provides expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business
- Determines specifications, then plans, designs, and develops the most complex and business critical software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes either individually or in concert with a project team.
- Assist in the most difficult support problems
- Develops programming and development standards and procedures as well as programming architectures for code reuse
- Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business
- Oversee design, development, testing, and deployment activities
- Support Agile sprint execution and backlog management
- Collaborate with architecture and DevOps teams
- Ensure seamless system integrations and API functionality
- Minimum 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a technical leadership role
- Demonstrated experience leading development teams supporting enterprise-scale, high-availability applications
- Strong experience with modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, .NET, Spring Boot, RESTful services)
- Proven experience designing and developing API-driven and microservices-based applications
- Demonstrated experience integrating with external systems and data sources (APIs, batch processing, data exchanges)
- Experience implementing secure coding practices and compliance with federal security standards
- Demonstrated experience supporting Agile development environments (Scrum or SAFe)
- Experience managing code quality, peer reviews, and automated testing practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration models
- Experience supporting federal healthcare or CMS systems strongly preferred
- Enthusiastic, proactive, positive attitude and high integrity
- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage architectures supporting multiple users
- Strong desire to mentor, coach team members while providing oversight for all aspects of relevant programs
- Ability to think and act strategically and proactively approach projects and issues.
- Able to work under pressure and to be flexible with changing priorities
- Able to find innovative ways to solve problems
- A genuine interest in looking for opportunities to add value and grow your area of responsibility
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related discipline required.
- Any related technical certifications are desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of the organization on architecture decisions, risks, and recommendations.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
- This position is primarily remote with occasional on-site meetings in the Washington DC - Baltimore Area
- Mainly sedentary; in an office environment.
- May be required to lift to ten (10) pounds.
- Flexible in working extended hours.
