Job Description And Duties

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all business services, safety and security, and facilities activities of the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). The incumbent makes recommendations to management and provides guidance and direction to approximately 25 subordinate staff on complex and sensitive business services, safety and security, and facilities related issues, establishes and administers department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory mandates and control agency directives, and ensures the delivery of efficient and effective services to stakeholders.

This position currently allows a hybrid schedule, with two days per week of required in office work. This may change to four days in office effective July 1, 2026.

The incumbent works in a high rise building located in downtown Sacramento. Some travel to DIR offices located throughout the state is required. Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview. However, they must reside in the State of California once they are hired and start working.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025), which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period as outlined on "Section 2113 - Personal Leave Program (PLP)" of the CalHR Manual. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.

Special Requirements

  • Describe, in detail, your experience with facilities management, space planning, and property leasing. Include the years of experience in each subject area.
