Scrum Master (all genders)
Indexed description
You'll run a single, predictable Scrum cadence across all Lisbon delivery streams, set up the Jira plus Forecast reporting layer so the COO sees a unified weekly view, and coach the Lisbon Senior Backend Anchor and the Lisbon Engineering Manager to a point where they can run ceremonies independently.
The bar at 12 months is 90% of committed sprint scope delivered on time, on budget, and visible in one dashboard.
This role is internal-facing in Phase 1 (no direct client contact). In Phase 2, scope can expand to selected client cadences as Lisbon seniors build a documented track record.
What You'll Do
- You'll establish a single predictable Scrum cadence across the full Lisbon delivery team (backend, frontend, AI, QA, DevOps) within 3 months: Daily, Refinement, Planning, Review, Retro, with 100% ceremony attendance tracked in Jira
- You'll cut sprint scope slippage to under 10% (committed vs. delivered story points) within 6 months
- You'll implement a unified Jira plus Forecast reporting layer so Lisbon sprint burndown and capacity utilisation are visible in a single dashboard reviewed weekly by the COO
- You'll coach the Lisbon Senior Backend Anchor and the Lisbon Engineering Manager to a level where each can run independent ceremonies without you in the room
- You'll establish a Definition of Done and Definition of Ready adopted across all Lisbon work and referenced in every ticket template
- You'll cut blockers aging more than 5 days to under 10% of the open backlog through proactive impediment removal and escalation
- You'll integrate Lisbon delivery cadence into the cross-site Practice standup and weekly sync, with zero timezone friction reported in retros from any of the three sites
- You'll deliver a quarterly Agile Maturity Assessment to the COO with concrete improvement actions per stream and per cross-site touchpoint
- 3 to 5 years as a Scrum Master in a software delivery context, with concrete velocity, predictability, and cycle-time numbers you can cite from your own teams
- Deep working knowledge of Scrum Guide 2020 and comfort adapting ceremonies to a consulting context (not pure product development). Familiarity with SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus for multi-team scaling
- Hands-on Jira configuration: boards, workflows, custom fields, JQL queries, dashboards, cross-project boards, all without admin support
- Track record translating sprint data into management-ready narratives (velocity, predictability, cycle time, throughput) and connecting sprint output to commercial outcomes
- Demonstrated cross-site, async-first collaboration across at least 2 timezones
- Business-fluent English (daily working language across all sites)
- Lisbon-based or willing to relocate, with sustainable 5-hour CET overlap commitment
- Forecast experience (resource and project planning) at the cross-team reporting level
- Coaching certification (CSM, PSM, ICAgile, or equivalent), used as a complement to outcomes rather than a substitute
- Experience standing up a delivery cadence in a hub or site that was being built from scratch
- Background in B2B consulting delivery (not just product engineering)
Tech Stack
