NPFC (Neuroplay Fantasy Challenge) is building the next-generation fantasy platform. We’re looking for a backend developer who can ship production-grade services, design clean APIs, and build scalable systems that work under real-time load.
What you’ll build
What you’ll build
- Core backend services for NPFC: authentication, user profiles, squads/teams, leagues, leaderboards, and game rules
- Real-time sports-data ingestion and event processing (webhooks/streams), and reliable state updates
- Market systems (platform market + transfer/auction mechanics), bidding timers, settlement, and anti-abuse controls
- Robust API design and documentation (REST/OpenAPI; GraphQL acceptable if strongly justified)
- Data models and persistence for high-traffic gameplay (PostgreSQL + Redis typical)
- Background jobs and schedulers for match windows, scoring updates, notifications, and periodic recalculations
- Observability and reliability: logging, metrics, tracing, retries, idempotency, and incident-friendly design
- 3+ years building backend systems (or equivalent high-impact experience)
- Strong proficiency with Node.js + TypeScript (or willingness to adopt quickly)
- Experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, migrations, performance) and Redis (caching/queues)
- Proven ability to design and maintain clean, versioned APIs
- Comfort with production operations: monitoring, debugging, performance tuning, and secure engineering practices
- Experience in gaming, fantasy sports, fintech, marketplaces, or event-driven systems
- Familiarity with message queues/event streaming (e.g., SQS/RabbitMQ/Kafka)
- Experience integrating third-party sports data providers (webhooks, feeds, match events)
- Cloud and deployment experience (AWS/GCP), Docker, CI/CD
- Experience designing rule engines / scoring pipelines
- High ownership: you’ll be trusted with meaningful systems, not minor tickets
- Practical engineering: ship, measure, iterate, harden
- Clear goals: we have defined product milestones and a real roadmap
