ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Multiple plant maintenance team responsibility.
- Supervises Maintenance Managers (reference Maintenance Manager job description).
- Supervises the Engineering Services and Automation teams and MRO Clerk.
- Defines the strategic direction for the maintenance and automation functions within the facility:
- Develops, aligns, and implements strategies to:
- Maximize equipment reliability balanced with cost.
- Maximize maintenance and automation technician “wrench time”.
- Continuously improve maintenance operations and support of manufacturing process equipment aligned with plant continuous improvement goals and objectives.
- Explore and identify potential innovative technologies to improve plant and equipment operations, reduce cost, support corporate sustainability goals, and equipment reliability.
- Define spare parts inventory strategy, balancing downtime with cost and supplier lead time.
- Continuously increase the skills and relevant knowledge of the maintenance team. Coordinates career development program for maintenance employees. Provides leadership in assessment, planning, and follow-up evaluation of staff, participating in self and employee development.
- Development of multi-year capital expenditure strategies.
- Implementing energy-saving measures and sustainability practices in maintenance operations.
- Maximize the effectiveness of project management.
- Ensures maintenance team demonstrates effective teamwork with plant personnel.
- Accountable for maintenance related spend vs budget.
- Accountable for maintenance employee knowledge and correct application of safety policies and procedures, such as ECP, LOTO, pre-use inspections, confined space entry, working at heights, etc.
- Manage the analysis of maintenance data to identify trends in equipment reliability that affects efficiency/OEE, cost, quality, plant capacity, and production throughput. Report key maintenance KPIs on a periodic basis, including action plans to improve areas where goals are not being met.
- Lead/manage system criticality assessments, as well as RCA’s and FMEA’s on equipment failures that significantly affect product quality, equipment uptime, and/or plant capacity.
- Provide subject matter expertise during the equipment or facility design review process to ensure reliability and safety are incorporated into new and current modifications or installations.
- Periodically inspects jobs in process and at completion to ensure that standards of workmanship and safety are maintained.
- Accountable for ensuring that all engineering and maintenance activities are in compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements on covered processes, if applicable to plant.
- Leads smaller scale capital projects for the facility, coordinates with corporate engineering for larger scale capital projects.
- Effectively manages capital spending plan; includes writing capital requests, developing bid scopes, managing contractors, ROI justification, etc.
- Excellent skills in coordinating efforts of diverse personnel.
- Competency in managing, coaching, and developing maintenance personnel.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, controls, plumbing, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC systems; as well as other facility maintenance related crafts. Experience with automation equipment preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and accurately interpreting electrical, piping, and instrumentation/ controls diagrams and engineering bills of materials.
- Able to read, understand, and develop standard project management documentation (Gantt charts, charters, etc).
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations relative to Shurtape plant operation and maintenance.
- OSHA PSM experience preferred (required for plant 33).
- Experience with SAP Maintenance and CMMS systems preferred.
- Ability to efficiently communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to balance different stakeholders and interests, and short term versus long term interests.
- Education/Certification Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree such as in, but not limited to, Engineering, Business/Administration, or Engineering Technology preferred.
- Or relevant professional experience.
- A master's degree in Business Administration is desirable
- PE Certification preferred.
- Experience
- At least ten years of experience in maintenance related supervisory/leadership positions utilizing a combination of technical, managerial, and financial expertise.
- Prolonged standing on the production floor.
- Bending and stooping required.
- Some lifting.
- Performs jobs under varying conditions (dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, noise, etc.)
- Wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
- Required to enter walled containment areas and access roofs on an infrequent but as needed basis which will at times require working in areas that are uncomfortably hot or cold.
- High temperature and humidly exposure on the plant floor.
