About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial operations within a mission-driven organization. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting, payroll, procurement, audits, and financial reporting, while providing leadership to a multi-functional finance team.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and day-to-day operational involvement.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Operations
- Lead all financial operations including accounting, payroll, procurement, and reporting
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and policies
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports
- Manage balance sheet and financial transactions
Audit & Compliance
- Serve as primary contact for financial audits and reporting requests
- Lead internal audit processes and coordinate with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal financial regulations
Procurement, Contracts & Payroll Oversight
- Oversee contract management and procurement processes
- Review vendor agreements, pricing, and performance
- Manage payroll operations, including review, reconciliation, and approvals
- Oversee travel and expense programs to ensure compliance and cost efficiency
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-level finance team
- Manage performance, training, and day-to-day priorities
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment
Work Environment
- Hybrid office environment
- Standard business hours with occasional extended hours as needed
- Occasional travel may be required
