About the role

For Banking Circle Australia we are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and continuously strengthen our global operating model. You will be reporting to the local CEO and Global Head of Global Core Operations.


As our COO you will be responsible for driving scalable, resilient, and compliant operations across multiple geographies, ensuring a seamless 24/7 operational coverage across regions, including effective follow-the-sun support models. You will also be responsible for leading high performing teams through complexity, competing priorities, and periods of change.


We offer a hybrid work model for our employees to allow for flexibility and productivity. However, we do expect you to spend most of your time in the office to build community and efficiency in the team.

  • Partner closely with Technology, Product, and Architecture teams to ensure operational requirements are embedded into system design and delivery.
  • Lead through adversity and ambiguity, setting a clear vision and direction while maintaining high standards under pressure.
  • Ensure robust operational governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Leverage operational metrics, trends, and insights to drive continuous improvement and informed executive decision making.
  • Ensure transparency and clarity in operational reporting to senior stakeholders and the Board.
  • Regular collaboration with global stakeholders across Europe, APAC, and other regions.


Things we’ll look for on your resume

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have minimum 10 years of proven experience operating at a senior level within a global organisation, preferably within financial services, banking, or payments. You have deep, hands on expertise in technologies and operating platforms and significant experience in global, 24/7 operational models across multiple geographies.


You have a strong background in managing regulated operations with a high degree of operational, compliance, and risk complexity. You are a strong visionary leader who can set direction, inspire teams, and mobilise execution across the organisation, and you are resilient, decisive, and confident in navigating ambiguity and adversity. You can perform at the highest standard under pressure, managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously, and you have excellent stakeholder management skills, with credibility at Board and executive level.


You have exceptional analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex data and convert insight into action, as well as a strong operational discipline combined with strategic thinking. Also, you have excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical, operational, and senior leadership audiences.
