Role Purpose

As a Senior Designer / Associate Art Director, you will support the Marriott International luxury brands team in creating elevated, social-first design work across a portfolio of seven world-class brands, including The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, W Hotels, JW Marriott, The Luxury Collection, EDITION, and Ritz-Carlton Reserve.


This is a highly hands-on role for a designer with excellent taste, strong social fluency, and a refined luxury sensibility. You will spend most of your time designing social and content assets yourself, while also helping guide the work of external designers and video editors from our creative roster. The right person will be able to move fluidly between brands, build polished social design systems, and turn incomplete or evolving briefs into beautiful, brand-right work.


This role sits between senior design execution and art direction. It is ideal for someone who loves making the work, but also has the judgment and creative maturity to help shape visual direction, review outsourced design and photography, and bring more consistency and creative throughlines across a major luxury account.


Key Responsibilities

  • Social-First Design: Create polished, luxury-caliber social assets across Instagram, TikTok, and other digital channels, including templates, Instagram carousels, Stories, Reels covers, TikTok/IG graphics, and campaign support materials.
  • Design Systems and Templates: Develop flexible, brand-right social templates and franchise formats that allow account team members to create content efficiently while maintaining visual consistency and elevated standards.
  • Visual Direction: Help establish and maintain creative throughlines across the account, including type treatments, graphic direction, layout systems, social playbook elements, and best practices for social formats.
  • Campaign and Concept Support: Design campaign concept decks, moodboards, visual territories, presentation materials, and other creative assets that help bring ideas to life for internal teams and clients.
  • Luxury Brand Stewardship: Shift fluidly between multiple luxury brand identities, ensuring each piece of work feels distinct, elevated, and aligned with the specific brand’s visual standards and audience. Stay current on fashion, design, and digital trends to continuously elevate creative output.
  • External Designer Oversight: Select appropriate designers from our freelance roster for specific needs, help brief designers, review design work, and provide thoughtful creative feedback to ensure outsourced work meets brand standards.Oversee retouching and post-production to ensure visual quality aligns with brand standards.
  • Client-Facing Creative Support: Present and discuss creative work with clients when needed, clearly explaining design decisions and visual recommendations while partnering closely with the account team, who will continue to own the client relationship.
  • Independent Execution: Take requests from Account Executives and move from brief to execution with a high degree of independence, including in fast-moving situations where inputs may be imperfect and internal review may be limited. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative Collaboration: Work closely with the Group Account Director, Account Executives, and broader team members to deliver design work that is beautiful, breakthrough, on-brand, and built for best-in-class social media.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of design experience, ideally within a social, content, creative, branding, or digital agency environment.
  • Exceptional Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating elevated, social-first design work. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in luxury or premium categories such as fashion, beauty, lifestyle, hospitality, or travel.
  • Location: While this position is remote, we require you to be a resident of one of the following states: MA, NY, FL, GA, TX, MO, IL, AZ, CA, OR. If you do not live in one of those 10 states you will not be considered for this position.
  • Luxury Sensibility: Excellent taste, strong typography, visual restraint, and the ability to create work that feels refined without feeling static or overly precious.
  • Social Fluency: Deep understanding of how design works across modern social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Stories, Reels, carousels, covers, templates, and platform-native visual formats. You spot trending formats and meet the moment with seamless execution.
  • Design Systems Thinking: Ability to create flexible, repeatable design systems and templates that help teams move faster without sacrificing quality or brand consistency, and can translate them into playbooks and toolkits.
  • Technical Skills: Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop,InDesign), Figma, Canva, Keynote, Google Slides, and more.
  • Creative Judgment: Ability to interpret incomplete, evolving, or scattered briefs and turn them into clear, polished, brand-right creative solutions.
  • Adaptability: Comfort moving quickly between multiple brands, design systems, formats, and priorities without defaulting to one personal aesthetic.
  • Collaboration and Feedback: Calm, collaborative working style with the ability to take feedback well, give thoughtful feedback to others, and work closely with account teams and external creative partners.
  • Motion and Video: Light animation, motion graphics, or video editing skills are a plus, but not required.
  • Working Hours: Ability to work US East Coast hours to align with the client’s working hours.
