About Option Alpha
Option Alpha is an options trading platform that empowers retail traders to build,
backtest, and deploy automated trading strategies without writing code. We integrate directly
with major brokerages, process real-time market data, and execute trades on behalf of
thousands of active subscribers. Our platform is growing rapidly and we are expanding our team
to support futures trading, new brokerage integrations, and next-generation trading tools.
Role
We are looking for a senior engineer to take a leading role in developing the next generation of our trading platform. You will own significant features end-to-end, help us expand the team with additional developers, and help define technical direction as we scale our brokerage integrations, automation engine, and real-time data infrastructure.
Must be located in the Tampa Bay area and comfortable working out of our downtown St Petersburg office most days.
Responsibilities
- Implement new brokerage integrations (OAuth flows, order execution, account management, real-time position syncing) across multiple broker APIs
- Lead the development of our futures trading engine, extending the platform beyond options and equities
- Build and maintain backend services in Node.js using our custom framework, Sequelize, PostgreSQL, and Redis
- Develop and enhance front-end features using JSX components, CSS, and our vanilla JS UI framework
- Design and optimize real-time data pipelines for market data, options chains, and trade execution queues
- Improve system reliability, observability, and performance across our microservices architecture
- Collaborate closely with product and trading domain experts to translate complex trading
logic into clean, maintainable code
- Contribute to infrastructure and deployment processes on AWS
Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software development experience with JavaScript and Node.js
- Strong proficiency with SQL (we use PostgreSQL)
- Deep experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, OAuth integrations, and webhook-driven architectures
- Proven ability to architect distributed systems and microservices in production environments
- Solid front-end skills with component-based UI development (JSX/React paradigm)
- Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, or similar)
- A genuine interest in options trading, financial markets, or automated/algorithmic trading
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Downtown St Petersburg office with a collaborative, small-team environment
- Direct impact on product direction and architecture decisions
- Work at the intersection of finance, automation, and technology
- A team that is passionate about trading, technology, and building tools that empower
retail investors
Understanding of options trading and financial markets is highly desirable.
