Job Description

General Functions:

Performs advanced professional engineering work and provides supervision for one or more engineering functions of a specialized nature. This is advanced professional engineering work of a complex nature with extensive supervisory duties. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the designated supervisor.

Representative Duties/Assignments:

Supervises staff engineers and technical and clerical staff, including preparation of employee performance reviews, delegation and oversight of work and training of staff members.

Meets with consulting engineers, contractors, citizens, and other governmental agencies to discuss County Code, policies, and other related questions; prepares written responses to questions, inquiries, and problems, as necessary.

Prepares DRC reports, reviews Land Use Plans, Development Plans, Preliminary Subdivision Plans, Development of Regional Impacts reports, and subdivision determination appeals, as necessary.

Supervises and assists on the reviews final construction plans and engineering reports for subdivisions, commercial and industrial projects for compliance with Orange County Codes & Regulations.

Supervises and assists on the reviews of (a) stormwater management systems associated with residential commercial and industrial development, (b) drainage studies to establish 100 year flood elevations and (c) master stormwater analyses.

Supervises the reviews of E-projects for compliance with Orange County Codes & Regulations.

Participates in community meetings and public hearings which includes making presentations to the community and decision-making groups. Responds to inquiries from citizens.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field of such as Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or similar and six years of experience consisting of any combination of roadway, land development, or stormwater design and management.

Licensed in a state of the United States as a professional engineer. Must be licensed in Florida as a professional engineer within one (1) year of hire.

Preferences:

Knowledge of land development and the Development Review Committee processes: land use plan, residential preliminary subdivision plan, and commercial development plan review experience. Must demonstrate effective communication both written and oral, as extensive interaction with developers, engineers, surveyors, and attorneys is required. Experience with Orange County Land Development Management System (LDMS) and use of AMANDA interface is preferred. Certified Floodplain Manager, Drainage and Stormwater experience, ICPR training, Masters Degree in a related engineering field or Masters in Business Administration is desired.

Pay Grade: 023 - From $45.57 to $59.24
