1. Objective of the assignment
The incumbent shall provide technical and legal inputs to support, in the context of the WIPO Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Co-administration Program, the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of digital solutions for the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center’s (WIPO AMC) ADR services, including case management databases, e-filing systems, online user facilities, and virtual hearing platforms. In addition, the incumbent shall support Intellectual Property and Copyright Offices in the implementation of ADR frameworks by providing technical assistance in the development of rules and guidelines, as well as in the deployment and customization of online case administration tools, thereby facilitating efficient dispute administration and the effective use of online ADR mechanisms.
The incumbent shall provide advisory and analytical services through the delivery of clearly defined, timebound outputs.
The incumbent shall be based in the WIPO Center Geneva office.
2. Deliverables/Services
The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:
a. Contribute, in the context of the WIPO ADR Co-administration Program, to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of digital solutions supporting the WIPO AMC ADR activities. This includes case management databases, e-filing systems, online user facilities, virtual hearing platforms, and data analytics dashboards.
b. Liaise closely with relevant WIPO colleagues, in particular the Solutions Design and Delivery Section (SDDS), to ensure that these systems are robust, secure, user-friendly, and aligned with the operational requirements of ADR proceedings.
c. Support Intellectual Property and Copyright Offices in the implementation of ADR frameworks by providing technical assistance in the development of rules and guidelines, as well as in the deployment and customization of online case administration tools. This work will involve supporting partner offices in jurisdictions including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, and Uruguay, ensuring efficient dispute administration, effective use of online tools, and smooth coordination for the conduct of online hearings.
Within 6 months of the contract start date, the incumbent shall complete the following deliverables:
1) A written analytical report assessing selected digital tools supporting WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center ADR activities (e.g. case management, e-filing, user interfaces, virtual hearing tools), including:
• Overview of current functionalities and limitations;
• Identification of business and user requirements;
• Prioritized technical and functional recommendations.
2) A written technical advisory note addressing agreed priority areas, which may include:
• Functional requirements and design considerations for specific digital solutions;
• Advisory input on system enhancements or configuration options;
• Implementation considerations and dependencies (non-operational).
By the end of the contract, the incumbent shall complete the following deliverables:
3) For each supported jurisdiction or agreed cluster of jurisdictions, a documented support package consisting of:
• Advisory notes on the implementation of ADR frameworks;
• Technical guidance on the deployment or customization of online case administration tools;
• User oriented guidance or configuration documentation, where applicable.
4) A final report consolidating:
• Summary of activities undertaken and deliverables produced;
• Key findings and lessons learned;
• Strategic recommendations for possible future follow-up by WIPO.
3. Reporting
The incumbent shall report to the Head of the Business Development and Digital Copyright and Content Disputes Section.
4. Profile (e.g. area of specialization/expertise, specific knowledge/skills/experience) The incumbent shall meet the following requirements:
Education (Essential)
First-level university degree in business administration, management, law, marketing.
Education (Desirable)
University degree including studies in intellectual property and/or alternative dispute resolution.
Experience (Essential)
At least three years of relevant professional experience, including experience in intellectual property law or alternative dispute resolution in a law firm and/or department or agency.
Language (Essential)
Excellent (written and spoken) knowledge of English.

Job Related Competencies (Desirable)
• Good understanding of the procedures applicable to the work of the work unit.
• Project management skills, in particular for IT-related projects, including tools such as Jira.
• Proven experience in using data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau for dashboard development, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
5. Duration of contract and payment
The incumbent will provide its services full time from July 1, 2026, until June 30, 2027.
Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations of a daily rate in Swiss francs.
Payment will be made on a monthly basis, subject to submission of invoices by the Contractor, satisfactory completion of services and deliverables.
6. Other information
ICS contractors fall outside the coverage of employment contracts for WIPO Staff members and are not subject to the WIPO Staff Regulations and Rules. The contractor has no entitlement to vacation or sick leave, except for WIPO official holidays, or to medical insurance or staff pension. Absences from work will be deducted from the contractor’s payment on a pro-rated basis.
