Role Description


The Staff Accountant/Junior Accountant is responsible for managing the company’s general ledger, performing month-end close activities, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role works closely with the Corporate Controller to maintain strong internal controls and support financial analysis, budgeting, and compliance efforts.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including cash, AR, AP, fixed assets, and accruals
  • Prepare and post journal entries and adjusting entries
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing process
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Review entries and reports prepared by the Accounting Assistant for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports
  • Support audits, tax filings, and other external reporting requirements
  • Identify process improvements to increase accounting efficiency and accuracy
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a small or mid-sized corporate environment
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and month-end close procedures
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
