Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant - Near Columbia, MD | On-site

Our client is a well-established national construction and services company with a footprint across multiple U.S. markets. They're employee-owned - meaning every hire receives equity - and built for long tenure rather than turnover.

This role reports directly to the Controller, with strong visibility and a clear runway to grow into a Controller-track seat. The work blends general ledger, job cost accounting, and full-cycle responsibilities.

What You'll Own

• Monthly close, journal entries, and GL reconciliations across multiple entities
• Job cost analysis: labor burden, overhead allocation, and project profitability
• In-house payroll processing and multi-state payroll tax filings
• Audit prep, year-end tax schedules, and sales and use tax support
• Fixed asset tracking and internal financial reporting
• Identifying process improvements and documenting workflows

What They're Looking For

• 3+ years of accounting experience (corporate or public)
• Job cost, construction, or project-based accounting is a strong plus
• Tech-savvy with a process improvement mindset
• Confident communicator who can partner with field operations
• Comfortable fully on-site, five days a week - but with real work-life balance (40-hour weeks are the norm, not the exception)
