Staff Accountant
Position Overview: The Staff Accountant supports core accounting functions and contributes to accurate financial reporting, effective month-end close, and strong internal controls. This role partners closely with finance and operations teams to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting processes while supporting analysis, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and motivated to grow in a team-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Close
- Prepare and post journal entries and support month-end close activities
- Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit card, prepaid, accruals, fixed assets) and maintain general ledger accuracy
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist with financial statements and management reporting
- Support project margin and variance analysis; investigate and resolve discrepancies
Operational Support
- Assist with accounts payable, expense processing, and vendor support
- Support accounts receivable activities, including billing, cash application, and reconciliations
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Assist with tax-related schedules and filings
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and GAAP
Process Improvement
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation efforts
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas)
- Experience with accounting or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities
