About The Company

AssistRx is a specialty pharmacy hub services company that manages therapy initiation and patient access programs for pharmaceutical manufacturers. The company's flagship platform, iAssist, integrates at the point of prescribing and connects patients, providers, payors, and manufacturers across complex specialty therapy programs. Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe acquired AssistRx in February 2024, and the company has grown significantly, supporting a broad portfolio of programs across therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, rare disease, and obesity.

About The Role

The Data Scientist, ITA at AssistRx will serve as a key analytical contributor within a small, high-performance team dedicated to advancing healthcare analytics in the specialty pharmacy space. Working directly alongside the Director / VP and two peer Data Scientists, this individual will be responsible for designing and executing sophisticated analytical models, generating insights across multiple KPI families, and developing client-facing outputs that showcase the value of AssistRx’s analytical capabilities. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in SQL and Python, familiarity with statistical methods relevant to program performance analysis, and a strong ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and audience-appropriate manner.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess approximately five years of experience in healthcare analytics, with direct exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharma consulting, health insurance, or pharmacy benefit management. Proficiency in SQL, particularly in querying and manipulating data within cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, is essential. Experience with Python or R is required, with a preference for Python (pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn). A solid understanding of statistical techniques like cohort analysis, survival analysis, funnel decomposition, regression modeling, and experimental design is necessary. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce structured, audience-ready analytical outputs, with excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain findings to non-technical stakeholders. A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, computer science, or economics is required; an advanced degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

Analytical Execution:

  • Design and execute both ad hoc and recurring analyses for ITA client engagements, focusing on six defined KPI families.
  • Build and maintain analytical models within these KPI families, ensuring consistent definitions, reproducibility, and statistical rigor.
  • Develop cohort analyses, funnel decompositions, survival curves, regression models, and performance metrics to surface actionable insights.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and performance differentials across programs, payors, geographies, and timelines, framing findings as hypotheses supported by data.

Client-Facing Output Development

  • Assist in preparing quarterly business review (QBR) materials, including data extraction, visualization, and narrative drafting under leadership guidance.
  • Create clean, client-ready exhibits such as charts, tables, and summaries tailored for market access and patient services teams.
  • Participate in client meetings as a technical resource, effectively communicating methodology and insights to diverse audiences.

Productization & Documentation

  • Define analytical specifications and prototype outputs for validated insights, collaborating with BI and report development teams to translate analyses into dashboards using ThoughtSpot and Power BI.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of methodologies, data transformations, and code to support reproducibility and team knowledge sharing.
  • Identify upstream data quality issues impacting insights and partner with data governance teams for remediation efforts.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to evolving the ITA analytical framework by integrating new questions and KPI families emerging from client engagements.
  • Stay informed on emerging healthcare analytics methods, specialty pharmacy data trends, and machine learning applications relevant to program performance and patient journeys.
