This role oversees all ERP domains to ensure systems deliver value across clinical, operational, and administrative functions.

  • Establish enterprise-level ERP governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure platform integrity and compliance.
  • Advise executive leadership and the Board on ERP-related risks, opportunities, and investment requirements.
  • Manage relationships with key technology vendors, system integrators, and strategic partners.
  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies and industry best practices across the ERP landscape.

2.2 Program & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the full ERP project portfolio — from business case development through delivery and benefits realization.
  • Direct high-level program governance for major transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Manage executive-level stakeholder reporting, providing clear visibility into programme status, risks, and escalation items.
  • Ensure robust risk management processes are embedded across all ERP programs and workstreams.

2.3 Organizational Change Management

  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide change management strategies for major ERP initiatives.
  • Champion a culture of readiness and adaptability, engaging senior clinical and administrative leaders as active change sponsors.
  • Oversee stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and organizational impact assessments.
  • Ensure effective training strategies are in place to drive user adoption and sustainable capability uplift.
  • Measure and report change adoption outcomes to ensure business benefits are fully realized post-go-live.

2.4 Business Alignment & Value Realization

  • Work closely with C-Suite and departmental heads (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Clinical Operations) to translate business needs into ERP capabilities.
  • Define, track, and report on key performance indicators that demonstrate ERP-generated value to the enterprise.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives enabled by the ERP platform across key hospital functions.
  • Ensure financial stewardship of the ERP portfolio, including budget ownership, cost optimization, and ROI accountability.

2.5 Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing ERP team comprising functional leads, technical architects, and project managers.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-oriented team culture anchored in accountability, continuous learning, and innovation.
  • Establish succession planning and talent development pathways for critical ERP roles.
  • Manage third-party service providers, ensuring delivery quality and contractual compliance.

2.6 Operations, Security & Compliance

  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of all ERP systems in a 24/7 healthcare environment.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, data privacy legislation, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity planning for all ERP platforms.
  • Enforce cybersecurity standards and data governance protocols across all ERP environments.

3. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

3.1 Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree strongly preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in ERP leadership, with at least 5 years in a senior or director-level capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, enterprise-wide ERP programs in large and matrixed organizations.
  • Proven track record of leading end-to-end ERP transformation programs from strategy to go-live and benefit realization.
  • Deep expertise across SAP functional domains relevant to hospital operations, including Materials Management (MM), Finance & Controlling (FICO), and Human Resources (HR).
  • Recognized ability to drive organizational change and lead executive-level stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience operating within — or directly serving — the healthcare or public sector is highly desirable.

3.2 Technical & Functional Competencies

  • Broad knowledge of SAP ECC 6 architecture and SAP S/4HANA capabilities and migration pathways.
  • Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and cloud/hybrid deployment models.
  • Understanding of enterprise integration frameworks, data migration strategies, and system landscape management.
  • Working knowledge of IT governance frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, or equivalent.

3.3 Hospital Digital Landscape & Enterprise Architecture

The ERP Director must possess a broad understanding of the full hospital technology ecosystem to ensure ERP strategy is developed and executed in the context of the wider digital environment. This includes:

3.3.1 Hospital Information Systems & Clinical Applications

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Hospital Information System (HIS) architecture, its clinical workflows, and its interdependencies with back-office ERP functions (billing, procurement, HR, finance).
  • Awareness of clinical and operational systems that co-exist alongside ERP — including Pharmacy, Laboratory (LIS), Radiology (RIS/PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EPR), Patient Administration Systems (PAS), and Nursing & Ward Management systems.
  • Ability to map how in-house and third-party applications interact with core ERP modules to identify risks, redundancies, and opportunities for rationalization or optimization.
  • Understanding of the role of Master Data Management (MDM) across clinical and non-clinical systems — including patient, vendor, asset, and employee data domains.

3.3.2 Enterprise Integration & Interoperability

  • Solid understanding of enterprise integration concepts, patterns, and platforms — including middleware, ESB (Enterprise Service Bus), API gateways, and event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, and DICOM as they relate to data exchange between clinical and administrative systems.
  • Ability to assess and govern integration landscapes connecting ERP to HIS, third-party vendors, government reporting platforms, insurance/payer systems, and external laboratories or diagnostic services.
  • Experience overseeing data flow design, interface governance, and end-to-end data integrity across integrated systems.
  • Capable of evaluating integration risk during major platform transitions (e.g., ERP upgrades) and ensuring interface continuity across the application portfolio.

3.3.3 Infrastructure Awareness

  • Sufficient understanding of IT infrastructure concepts to engage credibly with infrastructure architects, cloud engineers, and vendors on matters affecting ERP performance and availability.
  • Working knowledge of server environments, virtualization, storage, and networking concepts relevant to enterprise application hosting.
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid deployment models (on-premise, private cloud, public cloud, SaaS) and their implications for ERP architecture and data residency.
  • Ability to participate in infrastructure capacity planning discussions — including high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements for mission-critical hospital systems.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles as they apply to ERP and connected hospital systems, including access control, network segmentation, and data encryption standards.

3.4 Leadership & Behavioural Competencies

  • Strategic thinking — ability to translate organizational vision into actionable ERP strategy and roadmaps.
  • Executive communication — skilled at presenting complex technology matters to non-technical senior leaders, Boards, and clinical staff.
  • Change leadership — demonstrable capability in leading organizational change and driving adoption at scale.
  • Financial acumen — experienced in managing multi-million-dollar ERP budgets and articulating business cases.
  • Collaboration & influence — able to build consensus across diverse, often competing, organizational stakeholders.
