The Opportunity

A renewable energy development platform focused on onshore wind and solar in Germany requires a Managing Director to lead the business through its next phase of growth. The company is backed by a leading international energy investor.

The Managing Director will take full executive responsibility, leading the organisation through this period of delivery and scale-up. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and direct involvement in project execution, as well as engagement with investors and key stakeholders.

The immediate priority is to restore momentum across the development pipeline — improving project selection, governance, and delivery discipline. Longer-term, the focus will be on building a scalable, institutional-grade platform.

Key Responsibilities

Development Leadership & Execution

• Lead the full development lifecycle from land origination through to RTB delivery
• Improve project timelines, milestone tracking, and overall delivery discipline
• Drive high-quality project selection and portfolio optimisation
• Resolve permitting and regulatory challenges in collaboration with legal, authorities, and local stakeholders

Commercial & Financial Performance

• Oversee project monetisation via both third-party sales and internal transfer routes
• Own P&L, financial planning, and reporting to investors and the board
• Build and maintain strategic relationships across the German energy ecosystem

Organisation & Team Building

• Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing development team
• Implement governance structures, reporting cadence, and operational processes
• Foster a culture of accountability, pace, and technical excellence

Investor & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary interface with investors, providing transparent performance updates
• Represent the business externally with regulators, partners, and industry stakeholders

Candidate Profile

Essential

• Extensive experience in renewable energy development in Germany (wind, solar, or both), from origination to RTB or beyond
• Strong understanding of German permitting, planning, and regulatory frameworks
• Proven track record of delivering complex development pipelines on time and within budget
• Senior leadership experience with P&L ownership and board/investor interaction
• Fluent German with strong networks across the renewable’s ecosystem
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a high-growth, pre-revenue environment

Desirable

• Experience working within or alongside investor-backed platforms
• Exposure to project sales, M&A, or fund transfer structures
• Experience building or scaling development organisations
• Existing relationships with grid operators
