Commercial Manager

A well-established, privately held mining services business is seeking a commercially astute and driven Commercial Manager to join its leadership team. This is a high-impact role with real strategic influence, working alongside an experienced executive team to grow a profitable and operationally mature business.

The role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for driving commercial strategy, managing contracts, identifying growth opportunities, and protecting the business's financial and contractual interests across all projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy, tendering, and contract negotiation across new and existing projects
• Manage and mitigate contractual risk across the project portfolio
• Oversee contract administration, variation management, and claims processes
• Partner with operations, finance, and legal to ensure commercial outcomes align with business objectives
• Support business development activity including client engagement and bid strategy
• Develop and mentor a small commercial team

What we're looking for

• Proven commercial management experience in mining services, resources, or related infrastructure sectors
• Strong understanding of mining services contracts (AS, NEC, bespoke forms)
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex commercial negotiations and tender processes
• Tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, engineering, or a related discipline
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• A hands-on approach and the ability to operate effectively in a lean, fast-moving environment
