THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of a portfolio of bookkeeping clients and act as their primary point of contact.
This is a client-facing role that combines hands-on bookkeeping with strong client relationship management (Client Relationship Manager / RM function). You will be responsible for both delivering high-quality bookkeeping services and managing the overall client experience across your portfolio.
You will have autonomy over your clients, supported by our Bookkeeping Lead and wider accounting team, ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and in line with Australian compliance requirements.
This role is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys client interaction, takes ownership of outcomes, and is looking to step into a more senior, portfolio-based role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Relationship Management (Core Focus)
- Act as the primary contact and relationship manager for a portfolio of bookkeeping clients.
- Own end-to-end client relationships, ensuring strong engagement, trust, and service satisfaction.
- Conduct regular client meetings, check-ins, and ongoing communications.
- Proactively identify client needs and opportunities to improve service delivery.
- Ensure a consistent and high-quality client experience across your portfolio.
Bookkeeping & Compliance Delivery
- Perform and review day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including reconciliations, AP/AR, and reporting.
- Prepare and review BAS, GST, payroll, and other compliance obligations.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of all client work.
- Review and support more complex bookkeeping matters as required.
Workflow & Team Coordination
- Coordinate workflow between clients and internal bookkeeping team members.
- Ensure deadlines, priorities, and service standards are consistently met.
- Support smooth communication between clients and internal staff.
- Contribute to efficient workflow management across your client portfolio.
ABOUT YOU
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Diploma of Accounting, or equivalent qualification.
- 3–5 years’ experience in bookkeeping or a client-facing role within accounting or professional services.
- Strong experience with Xero and/or MYOB (Xero highly regarded).
- Solid understanding of Australian GST, BAS, payroll, and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage a portfolio of clients with strong attention to detail and accountability.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a client-focused mindset.
- Highly organised, proactive, and commercially aware.
- Comfortable balancing technical bookkeeping work with client relationship management.
