About the Role:

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Controller to lead the financial operations of multiple companies within our growing organization. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, driving financial performance, and partnering directly with ownership on key business decisions.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise along with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insights that support growth, profitability, and long-term strategy.

What you will do:

• Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, billing, and financial reporting
• Manage multi-entity financials and provide consolidated reporting to ownership
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP
• Support audits, tax filings, and banking relationships
• Partner with operations to improve financial processes and efficiency

Leadership Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of ~5 accounting professionals (including billing and staff accountant roles)
• Assign, review, and ensure accuracy of work across the department
• Drive accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement
• Support hiring, training, and performance management

What we are looking for:

• 5–10+ years of accounting/finance experience
• Prior Controller or senior accounting leadership experience preferred
• Experience managing financials across multiple entities strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• Experience in transportation, trucking, or logistics is highly preferred
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills

Work Envioronment

• Office-based role with regular collaboration across operations and leadership
• Travel between company locations is required
• Fast-paced environment with high visibility and impact
• May require extended hours during month-end, year-end, and special projects
