About The Role
Play a key leadership role within the Mount Isa Hospital Midwifery Service, delivering specialised lactation and infant feeding care to women and their families across inpatient, outpatient and outreach settings. Working autonomously and collaboratively, you'll promote best practice, support complex feeding needs, and contribute to achieving Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) accreditation, while mentoring and guiding the broader maternity team.
- Provide expert lactation and infant feeding support, using evidence‑based practice to care for women and babies with both routine and complex needs across the maternity continuum.
- Lead and influence clinical practice, offering advanced clinical decision‑making, mentorship and support to midwives, nurses and students within the service.
- Drive quality, education and improvement initiatives, including BFHI standards, clinical audits, data collection and service development activities.
Working with us
- For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,605. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$10,815… and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,210 (pro rata for part time employees).

Requirements
- Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
- Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
