Company Overview

We are partnering with a private equity-backed industrial platform operating across multiple business lines focused on value-added products, logistics, operational services, and technical distribution solutions for commercial and industrial customers across North America.

The company has a long operating history, a diversified customer base, and a highly acquisitive growth strategy supported by experienced ownership and executive leadership. The business is currently undergoing significant operational and financial transformation, making this an ideal opportunity for a high-impact FP&A leader to help build scalable reporting and analytics infrastructure.

The Opportunity

This is a newly created Director of FP&A role reporting directly to the CFO. Historically, the organization has operated without a dedicated FP&A leader, creating a unique opportunity for someone to build forecasting, reporting, analytics, and decision-support processes from the ground up.

The Director of FP&A will act as a strategic finance partner to executive leadership, helping drive operational visibility, improve financial decision-making, support acquisition integration, and implement scalable planning infrastructure across a multi-site organization.

This is not a maintenance role — the company is looking for someone who can build, influence, and create structure within a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Planning, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes across the organization
  • Develop driver-based financial models tied to operational and commercial performance
  • Build and maintain monthly management reporting packages, KPI dashboards, and executive reporting materials
  • Support cash flow forecasting and working capital analytics across the business
  • Provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to leadership teams

Business Partnership & Operational Finance

  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, commercial leadership, and finance teams
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear business recommendations
  • Support pricing, margin, and profitability analysis across customers, products, and business units
  • Assist leadership in evaluating operational efficiencies and cost optimization initiatives

Systems, Data & Process Improvement

  • Lead implementation and optimization of FP&A and reporting infrastructure
  • Partner with IT to improve reporting automation, business intelligence capabilities, and data integrity
  • Build scalable reporting processes and eliminate manual workflows where possible
  • Improve visibility into operational and financial performance through analytics and dashboards

M&A & Strategic Initiatives

  • Support acquisition analysis, integration, and synergy tracking initiatives
  • Assist with board materials, executive presentations, and strategic projects
  • Develop financial analyses and business cases related to growth initiatives and capital investments

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, transaction advisory, investment banking, or strategic finance
  • Experience within manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or operationally complex environments strongly preferred
  • Experience in private equity-backed businesses is a plus
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • Experience with business intelligence, reporting, or EPM platforms strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate effectively in a lean, fast-paced, high-accountability environment
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills
  • Builder mentality with desire to create scalable processes and infrastructure

Why This Opportunity

  • Newly created role with significant visibility and ownership
  • Direct partnership with an experienced, highly respected CFO
  • Opportunity to build FP&A infrastructure from scratch
  • Exposure to executive leadership, private equity ownership, and strategic decision-making
  • High-growth environment with meaningful runway for advancement
  • Strong culture focused on mentorship, accountability, and professional growth
