What You Will Do
As a member of the World Languages Department and the Upper School faculty, you will:
- Design and teach engaging, rigorous Spanish courses grounded in proficiency-based, communicative practices
- Create a classroom culture where intellectual risk-taking, curiosity, and respect are the norm
- Challenge students to grow as language learners while supporting them as developing adolescents
- Use varied assessments and feedback to promote reflection, progress, and mastery
- Collaborate to strengthen the curriculum and advance departmental goals
- Integrate technology and innovative pedagogy in the service of learning
- Build meaningful relationships with students and families through clear communication and mentorship
- Contribute actively to the life of the school as an advisor, colleague, and community member
- Model Webb’s core values of academic excellence, integrity, critical thinking, and care for others
- A bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field (advanced degrees preferred)
- Demonstrated success teaching Spanish at the high school level
- Near-native Spanish proficiency and deep cultural knowledge
- Experience teaching or readiness to teach upper-level Spanish courses, including Level III and beyond
- A commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and continuous professional growth
- A genuine alignment with Webb School of Knoxville’s mission and values
