What does a Admissions Counselor (TEXAS) do?
As a new Admissions Counselor for Texas at Lyon College, your daily responsibilities will include engaging with prospective students through various channels, such as phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings. You will assist in developing and delivering presentations at high schools, community colleges, and college fairs to promote Lyon College’s programs and opportunities. You will evaluate student applications, providing guidance and support throughout the admissions process while ensuring a positive experience for all applicants. Additionally, maintaining accurate records in our admissions database and collaborating with faculty and staff to address student inquiries will be crucial.
Regularly participating in team meetings to strategize outreach initiatives and tracking progress toward enrollment goals will also be essential parts of your day-to-day activities. Finally, fostering relationships with Texas-based educational institutions will help you effectively represent Lyon College and its mission.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including overnight and multi-day trips to Texas.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle for extended travel.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to the value of a liberal arts education.
- Ability to engage diverse student populations and represent the College professionally.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, travel, and lift 25 pounds (e.g., recruitment displays).
