About the Role:
The Associate Director for Corporate Strategy China is a dedicated strategic resource focused on accelerating the company's growth ambitions within the China market. This role supports the development and execution of China-specific strategy, provides analytical and commercial insight to Regional and Global leadership, and helps drive high-impact initiatives aligned to the global corporate strategy.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or Finance required, MBA or advanced degree preferred but not required
Experience:
- Minimum 4-7 years of experience, ideally in Life Sciences management consulting or a strategy role within a CRO or Pharma company.
- A strong grasp of the drug development lifecycle (Phases I-IV) and how ICH-GCP regulations impact business flexibility.
- Mastery of financial valuation and the ability to turn complex data into "Board-ready" PowerPoint narratives.
- Experience in financial modelling and structured analysis
- Exposure to healthcare or biotech sector preferred
- Experience working in or with China market required
- Mandarin and English language skills required
Responsibilities:
Market & Competitive Analysis
- Conduct regular analysis of the CRO, biotech, and pharma landscape in China, including competitive mapping, regulatory trends, and customer insights.
- Develop concise market intelligence summaries to support strategic planning and business development decisions.
Strategic Growth Support
- Assist with the development of China growth strategies, including service line expansion, partnership evaluations.
- Support feasibility assessments for new offerings, investments, or operational enhancements specific to the Chinese market.
- Track performance against strategic KPIs and growth targets
- Contribute to annual strategic planning by consolidating inputs from local business leaders and preparing data-driven recommendations.
Business Case & Financial Support
- Build & prepare financial models to support investment decisions and margin improvement initiatives
- Assist in evaluating potential partnerships, collaborations, or small-scale strategic opportunities in China
- Analyse performance trends and provide insights to regional leadership
Project Coordination & Execution
- Work with cross-functional teams (BD, Operations, Finance, Regulatory, Medical Affairs) to support China-focused projects and initiatives.
- Track progress on ongoing initiatives, summarise risks and milestones, and prepare status updates for senior stakeholders.
- Assist in coordinating internal workshops, strategy sessions, and key project meetings with China leadership.
Executive & Board-Ready Materials
- Prepare clear, concise briefing documents, slide decks, and insights for senior leadership.
- Translate local operational insights into strategic narratives suitable for global audiences.
- Support the preparation of materials specific to China for business reviews and Board updates
