Chief Investment Officer

Macdonald & Company is partnered with a vertically integrated modular design-builder and developer headquartered in Southern California to identify a Chief Investment Officer.

This is a rare opportunity to join the executive team of one of the most innovative housing delivery platforms in the Western U.S. The company is actively scaling its manufacturing capacity, deploying AI across operations, and building toward 10,000+ units through 2030 across LIHTC and unsubsidized multifamily product types. With institutional capital partners already in place and a pipeline exceeding 1,500 units, the foundation is set. What they need now is the right person to lead the next phase of growth.

The Role

The CIO will own all investment activities and strategies across an active and expanding multifamily portfolio spanning units in asset management, under construction, and in final stages of construction financing. This is a capital raise and strategy role at its core. The right person will expand debt and equity sources, deepen institutional JV relationships, drive acquisitions, and work directly alongside the CEO to execute on an ambitious growth trajectory. The role carries meaningful equity participation and co-investment opportunities, making it a genuine wealth-building opportunity for the right operator.

What They're Looking For

• 15+ years in real estate investment strategy and management
• Proven track record managing multiple deals simultaneously at $1B+ in total asset value
• Experience leading investment teams of 5+ individuals
• Demonstrated ability to secure equity and debt financing on individual projects $100M+
• Strong multifamily acquisition proficiency with established broker and lender relationships
• Excel modeling fluency, financial reporting capabilities, and CRM discipline
