Richelieu Hardware is looking for a Purchaser-Buyer for the PJ White Hardwoods Calgary, Alberta.
The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and managing materials, products, and services required to support business operations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing, timely delivery, and supplier performance while maintaining quality and inventory targets.
More specifically, the main responsibilities of the position are to :
- Source and purchase goods, materials, and services in line with company requirements
- Issue purchase orders (POs) and ensure accuracy of pricing, quantities, and delivery dates
- Monitor order status and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve best value and cost savings
- Maintain accurate purchasing records in JDE or purchasing systems
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and warehouse teams to forecast demand
- Manage supplier relationships and resolve issues related to shortages, delays, or quality
- Support inventory management by maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures
- Assist with supplier evaluations and cost analysis reporting
- Office-based with regular interaction with suppliers and internal departments
- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience (industry-dependent)
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Proficiency with JDE systems and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Cost-conscious mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of inventory management and logistics processes
