Indexed description

This is a rare opportunity to join a Family Office led by successful serial entrepreneurs who have founded, scaled and sold several businesses. You will work closely with the Managing Partners and the Head of Project Development.

You will own the Family Office's grid interface across its energy infrastructure initiatives. Grid access is the critical path for every project we develop and invest in — without it, nothing moves. As Business Development Manager – Grid, you will be the single point of contact for grid operators (Netzbetreiber), analyze the German grid landscape, and secure the grid connections that unlock gigawatts of projects. You will operate at the intersection of grid operators, project development, and investment activities, with real mandate and responsibility.

Aufgaben

What You'll Own

Grid Operator Relationship & Key Account Management

  • Own all correspondence and touchpoints with grid operators (ÜNB and VNB) across the project portfolio

  • Build and maintain high-trust relationships with the right counterparts at each operator

  • Prepare and manage grid connection requests, submissions, and follow-ups with precision

  • Navigate the commercial and technical dynamics of each operator — know the do's and don'ts

Grid Analysis & Strategy

  • Analyze grid capacity, bottlenecks, and expansion plans to inform site selection and project prioritization

  • Translate grid data into clear go/no-go recommendations for the development and investment teams

  • Maintain a living view of the German grid landscape — where capacity exists, where it's coming, where it won't

Project Development Support & Internal Interface

  • Support the Head of Project Development on grid-related workstreams across the pipeline

  • Interface directly with the investment team on grid diligence for new opportunities

  • Keep a high operating cadence: weekly milestones, steering updates, and decision logs

Ops & Leadership Support

  • Provide the Head of Project Development and Managing Partners with high-signal reporting: risks, trade-offs, decisions needed, and recommended actions

  • Escalate early, never late — and bring solutions, not just problems

  • Anticipate grid bottlenecks early, de-risk timelines, and maintain multiple "paths to yes"

Qualifikation

Who We're Looking For (A* Profile)

Required

  • Fluent German (native) and fluent English

  • Bachelor's degree from a top university, ideally in STEM; Master's preferred

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in energy infrastructure with direct grid operator interface (at a developer, IPP, utility, grid operator, or comparable)

  • Demonstrated understanding of the do's and don'ts and the commercial/technical dynamics of working with German grid operators

  • Exceptional stakeholder and key account management skills

  • Strong communicator — internally and externally

  • Exceptional agency and sense of urgency

  • Fast learner: you thrive outside your comfort zone, switching contexts, and working with limited guidance

  • Proven track record driving cross-functional delivery in settings with:

  • Multiple external stakeholders

  • Grid operator interfaces

  • High schedule pressure and real accountability

  • Professional, credible, and personally engaging presence

  • Exceptionally structured: you naturally run tight plans, crisp follow-ups, and clean documentation

  • Willing to travel throughout Germany

Preferred (Strong Plus)

  • Existing network with relevant counterparts at German grid operators (ÜNB and VNB)

  • Hands-on experience preparing and managing grid connection requests end-to-end

The Bar (How We Evaluate Excellence)

A* candidates in this role are known for:

  • Navigating grid operators with credibility, patience, and commercial instinct

  • Turning grid complexity into clear recommendations the development and investment teams can act on

  • Building relationships at each operator that outlast individual projects

  • Making grid connection requests move — through preparation, follow-up, and knowing which lever to pull when

  • Protecting pace: unblock, escalate intelligently, and keep momentum across the pipeline

Success Metrics (What "Great" Looks Like)

  • Gigawatt of Grid Connections Secured: The core KPI — capacity of grid access unlocked for the portfolio

  • Execution Speed: Average time from grid connection request to confirmation

  • Stakeholder Management: Grid operators view the Family Office as credible, prepared, and execution-oriented

  • Internal Enablement: Project development and investment teams can make informed, grid-backed decisions based on your work
