About The Company

I am partnered with a New York City based General Contractor /Construction Management firm achieving YoY growth since inception building a mix of ground-up and interiors work with projects valued in excess of $45M. This open-shop contractor who self-perform across millwork builds across hospitality, retail, multi-family residential, automotive, and life-science sectors with clients including Porsche, Mastercard & Fordham Uni to name a few.

As they continue their growth trajectory they have a lucrative opportunity to diversify into the Data-Centre market where they will look to partner with a global leader in the space to tap into the US Data-center market. This is an opportunity to be a part of the growth of a new division for this firm with the partnership of a proven powerhouse already in the space globally.

About The Role

They are looking for a Construction Project Manager to lead that division for them focused on delivering Data Center projects. You will be responsible for providing consulting services to an assigned client responsible for the management of projects from initiation through completion.

The Day-to-day

  • You will manage all areas of project management for commercial data center including; planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout.
  • Work directly with clients to prepare all elements of the project. This includes the scope of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimates & budget, work plan schedule & milestones, quality control, and risk identification.
  • Interface directly with client to lead client MOP (Method of Procedure) process for scheduling any and all data center construction related activity.
  • May ensure standard methodologies are followed for design and delivery of critical facility system components and equipment.
  • Define the project delivery resources from pre-qualified lists or through the project qualification process.
  • Conduct a standard request for proposals, complete bid evaluations, and recommend resources to clients.
  • Implement project documentation governance that is aligned with company and client requirements.
  • Ensure project data integrity and documentation is accurate, timely, and coordinated.
  • Direct the project delivery team by providing guidance and direction to achieve goals.
  • Craft action plans to meet objectives, budget, and schedule.
  • Track the progress of each project and report the status and variances.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify project threats and develop risk mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
  • Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of own job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Grow the department by hiring x2 additional staff inside the first 12 months to aid in project delivery and succession.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. LEED AP, PMP, and/or CCM designation(s) preferred.
  • Knowledge of MEP systems or critical environment experience is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with Construction management highly desired.
  • Capability to read, understand and apply standard to sophisticated documents affecting construction projects, including but not limited to: agreements/contracts, leases, work letters, project charters, surveys and drawings.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
