THIS POSITION IS FOR 8 HOURS PER DAY AT 185 DAYS PER YEAR.

PAY FOR THIS POSITION IS: PSE SALARY SCHEDULE LEVEL 8 - $ 27.99

This position's responsibilities are to assist the Assessment staff and relevant building staff in coordinating program activities. Responsibilities include producing a variety of correspondence and reports; supporting data needs, working with the district student information systems, and providing a variety of program office support.

Essential Functions

Depending upon the individual assignment, the Assessment Technician may perform all or a combination of the following:

  • Manages multiple assessment systems and databases with users, students, test set-up, and assessment results.
  • Matches and assigns state student identification numbers to all new students in the district.
  • Creates and refines data charts and tables for assessment results using databases and spreadsheets. Responds to requests for data from a variety of sources.
  • Assists during assessment cycles; disperses and collects assessment data; provides support, materials and assistance to district and building assessment coordinators
  • Receives and answers telephone and in person inquiries concerning assessment matters.
  • Types correspondence, forms and reports on word processing, email, slideshow software. Gathers, composes, formats, types, edits, and distributes required correspondence; supports and maintains information for assessment programs.
  • May provide clerical support in the department as needed.
  • Provides a wide variety of backup and peak load office support, such as answering telephones, assisting office visitors, and performing a wide variety of word processing, typing, and filing.
  • May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Models appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information, consistent with district ethical guidelines.
  • Performs related duties consistent with scope and intent of the position.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to assigned Director of Curriculum and Assessment.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Required to shift multiple demands and tasks; requires concentration and attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to sit for prolonged periods; exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; dexterity and precision required in the operation of the computer. Must be able to lift 40-pound boxes.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment, including training in

accounting procedures, data display and analysis and general office procedures and three (3) years of office

experience, involving accounting, and communications.

Allowable Substitutions

College course work in accounting/bookkeeping and data display/analysis or related field may substitute

for up to two (2) years of required experience on a year-for year basis; and, such other alternatives to the

above qualifications that the district may find appropriate and acceptable.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively. High-level keyboarding and data entry skills.

Ability to operate a computer and learn the operation of specific software programs including word

processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of effective English usage, grammar and punctuation.

Ability to establish and maintain accurate records. Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting concepts.

Ability to produce clear data charts and graphs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working

relationship with staff, students, parents, and the public. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Licenses/Special Requirements

Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving

physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district

infection control plan.
