Duties
Classroom & Childcare Support
- Assist Lead Teacher with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Supervise children during all classroom activities, meals, and transitions
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Prepare and clean learning centers, activities, and materials
- Assist with classroom routines, including arrival, departure, snack, and restroom breaks
- Work closely with Lead Teacher and other staff to ensure smooth classroom operations
- Follow Lead Teacher guidance and support classroom management strategies
- Communicate observations about children’s behavior, learning, or needs to the Lead Teacher
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
- Interact professionally and positively with families
- Support Lead Teacher in sharing updates on children’s daily activities and progress
- Build trusting relationships with children and families
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation protocols (including handwashing, diapering, and cleaning)
- Monitor children for signs of illness or injury and report concerns to Lead Teacher
- Assist with emergency procedures and follow safety policies
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Some state-required Early Childhood Education (ECE) credits preferred but not required
- Enrollment in Washington State MERIT and completed background check through MERIT / DCYF
- Current CPR & First Aid Certification (infant/child/adult)
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training (current)
- Negative TB test (Tuberculosis screening)
- Up-to-date immunization records (as required by state licensing)
- Current Food Handler’s Card (Washington State Food Worker Card)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow guidance, directions, and classroom procedures
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and actively engage with children
- Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field
- 1–3+ years experience in early learning or licensed childcare setting
- Experience assisting with curriculum planning and classroom activities
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Training or coursework in social-emotional learning, inclusion, or trauma-informed care
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities (preferred but not required)
