Your Role At Sephora
Ready for a career glow up? As Senior Software Engineer, you'll be designing and developing cutting-edge omni-channel solutions that power Sephora's checkout and payment experiences. The work you do will impact beauty, as you create seamless, secure technology that connects our clients with the products they love across all channels. You'll be part of a team that's united in beauty, supported by those who are equally passionate about delivering innovative technical solutions and exceptional digital experiences.
What You'll Do
- Architect and Develop Payment Solutions. Design, develop, and enhance omni-channel Payment and Checkout APIs that deliver best-in-breed solutions while ensuring security, scalability, and high performance.
- Drive Technical Excellence. Develop secure, high-quality production code, actively participate in code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Architects, DevOps, Product Managers, and Quality Assurance to ensure solutions meet best practice specifications.
- Lead and Mentor. Drive conversations with offshore teams, assign tasks, review deliverables for completeness, and serve as a subject matter expert and onsite liaison on projects.
- Ensure System Reliability. Proactively monitor, identify, isolate, and resolve problems to avoid business impact, ensuring all incident tickets are handled appropriately within SLAs.
- Contribute to System Design. Work across the entire tech stack from enterprise application services to databases, contributing to overall system architecture, security, scalability, and performance.
- Deliver with Agility. Participate in sprint releases with close to zero tolerance on delivery slippages, working in a fast-paced agile development environment.
- Deep Technical Expertise. 6+ years of hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot frameworks, and RESTful API design using JSON and GraphQL, with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Cloud Architecture Experience. 4+ years designing cloud-based applications using microservices architecture and best practices, preferably on MS Azure cloud platform, with knowledge of service mesh, monitoring tools, and streaming solutions.
- Database and Full Stack Proficiency. Hands-on experience with MySQL, MS SQL, NoSQL databases, and full stack development, along with experience leveraging AI-powered tools and automation frameworks to improve efficiency.
- Release Management Skills. 5+ years of experience with release planning, runbook documentation, performance test analysis, and phased rollout strategies in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Collaborative Leadership. Ability to foster strong working relationships with peers and cross-functional teams, with clear written and verbal communication skills and a highly self-motivated, independent work style.
- Retail and eCommerce Knowledge. Experience working in the retail industry with large-scale enterprise organization, eCommerce, and self-serviceable applications is a plus, with the ability to quickly understand business domains for both dotcom and retail channels.
- AI‑Augmented Engineering Practices. Demonstrated experience leveraging AI‑powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude/Claude Code, or similar) to improve engineering productivity and solution quality, including defining reusable prompts or 'skills' and shared contextual standards (architecture guidelines, coding conventions, domain constraints) to enable consistent, secure, and maintainable AI‑assisted development across teams.
- Caring Community. You’ll collaborate with teammates who are equally passionate about innovating and driving the industry forward – together, united in beauty.
- Fulfilling Path. Your career transformation starts here, with opportunities that will challenge, stretch and develop your skills.
- Meaningful Work. As you make an impact on beauty, you’ll feel and see the positive change (consumer, industry, and social) that your individual voice is a part of.
- Health. Choose a healthcare plan to fit you and your family’s needs with medical, dental, and vision coverage. Sephora also fully covers our employees’ disability and life insurance.
- Wealth. We offer a competitive 401k with 4% match as well as FSA and HSA programs. We also offer a Student Debt Retirement plan, where your student loan payments qualify to earn the 401k match from Sephora.
- Balance. You’ll be empowered to find the perfect blend of work/life balance that actually works for you with PTO, flexibility, protected leave, and more.
- Growth. Career growth is built into every role, with access to training, development, and tuition reimbursement.
- Perks. Think you’ve tried it all? Enjoy a 30% discount on all merchandise/services, opportunities for free product or “gratis,” and flash sale discounts on LVMH brand products.
- Support. Join a team that truly cares – with free mental health and financial coaching resources with 24/7 access to Modern Health and Financial Finesse. Plus, volunteer and donation matching.
