Vice President of Accounting

A rapidly growing, private equity-backed company is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to lead and scale its accounting operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is a key strategic and hands-on leadership position responsible for financial reporting, treasury management, internal controls, tax coordination, and audit readiness.
This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong, results-driven leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and brings deep experience in GAAP, financial operations, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all core accounting functions: GL, AP, AR, revenue recognition, and compliance with government grants.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate, timely GAAP-compliant financials.
- Manage annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Build and lead a high-performing accounting team, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and risk management processes.
- Direct treasury and cash management functions, including 13-week forecasting and liquidity planning.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors on tax provision, filings, and audit support.
- Prepare and deliver financial reporting packages for private equity sponsors and lending partners.
- Support enterprise risk management activities including insurance and claims oversight.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across operations, finance, and strategy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 8–10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience leading financial audits.
- Experience in a private equity-backed environment is highly preferred.
- Strong ERP and financial reporting systems experience.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and execute under pressure.
- Experience with income tax coordination, cash forecasting, and compliance processes.

- Familiarity with government grant compliance (a plus).
- Experience in an operational or infrastructure-heavy industry.
