transfers and bed availability in specified clinical areas to improve patient care and maximize bed
utilization.
Essential Job Functions
- The Patient Placement Coordinator facilitates throughput from all admission sources via
- Identify and assign beds for all admissions from various access points to include: the Emergency
home, transfer from ICU as well as interfaculty hospital direct admissions through the Transfer
Center.
- Responsible for facilitating patient assignments and communicates regularly with the Clinical
promptly.
- Perform data entry of patient accounts, including but not limited to, correct admission source,
resident as well as correct admission status.
- Enters admission status orders into the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Answers calls and provides high level customer service in all interaction with internal and
- Maintains patient confidentiality regarding access to patient and other clinical information via
- Addresses concerns of patients and provides service recovery and escalates issues to
- Enters bed request and bed assignment information into the ED EPIC Track Board for prompt
- Monitors census and bed clean status in the Bed Tracking system and coordinates request for
- Provides department Business Operations Manager or designee updates regarding placement
- Is able to cross function to facilitate interfacility transfers in the absence of the Transfer
