The Vice President of Sales will be instrumental in spearheading GumGum's market-leading contextual advertising platform across outer markets West of the Mississippi. Reporting to the SVP of Sales, this pivotal role demands a seasoned sales executive with a proven track record of success in the online media landscape.
The VP of Sales will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing sales team, fostering key relationships within the advertising community, and driving revenue growth through the successful adoption of GumGum's innovative solutions. This dynamic leadership position requires a deep understanding of the online media ecosystem, exceptional team management skills, and the ability to forge strategic partnerships that deliver tangible value to clients.
Note: This position offers the opportunity for remote work or 'work from home' as there isn't a nearby office. We are only open to considering candidates in the Minneapolis, Texas, Denver and Ohio territories. This role will require extensive traveling (50%) across the outer markets West of the Mississippi.
What You'll Achieve
Outer Territories Sales Team Leadership
- Cultivate High-Performance Teams: Foster a collaborative and results-oriented sales culture, ensuring team members are empowered to achieve exceptional results. Oversee GumGum’s Outer Territories and Indies Sales Team and team productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
- Drive Talent Development: Recruit, onboard, and develop top sales talent, providing ongoing coaching and mentorship to enhance individual and team performance.
- Set and Achieve Ambitious Goals: Translate sales strategies into actionable goals, implement performance management frameworks, and coach team members on account-based strategies to maximize revenue potential.
- Promote a Positive Employee Experience: Create a supportive and engaging work environment where team members feel valued and motivated to excel.
- Champion Best Practices: Continuously seek out and implement innovative sales methodologies and best practices to drive team productivity and efficiency.
- Lead by Example: Exemplify GumGum's values and ethical leadership principles, inspiring trust and respect within the team.
- Deliver on Revenue Targets: Achieve and exceed revenue targets for the Outer Region, consistently driving year-over-year growth through proactive sales initiatives.
- Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and nurture strong relationships with key brand and agency contacts and clients, gaining a deep understanding of their business needs and providing tailored GumGum solutions.
- Generate New Business Opportunities: Identify and qualify sales opportunities from marketing leads, as well as through proactive prospecting and outreach.
- Expand Existing Client Relationships: Upsell current clients on new and existing products, leveraging GumGum's expertise in In-image and In-video display advertising and additional suite of offerings.
- Focus on Key Categories: Drive sales activation and relationship development within key Outer region key verticals
- Foster Client-Centricity: Gather and communicate valuable client insights to internal Product teams, ensuring GumGum's offerings continuously evolve to meet market demands.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Account Managers, Strategists, and other internal teams to ensure seamless client onboarding, campaign execution, and achievement of client objectives.
- Lead Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with the North American Leadership Team to develop, manage, and execute strategic sales initiatives that drive significant revenue growth and market expansion.
- Bachelor's Degree in Media or Marketing/Advertising field
- 10+ years of selling experience in digital advertising sales)
- Experience managing a team to deliver a large book of business (15M+)
- Demonstrated experience coaching team members to improve performance
- Must have strong selling experience and track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets demonstrated with a list of brand and agency contacts in addition to other assignments in the region
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time
- Proficient in SalesForce (is comfortable logging meetings, calls, pulling reports, etc.)
- PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills a must
- Must possess superb written and verbal communication skills
- Uses Seller Crowd and checks the trades for updates on accounts
- Strong and strategic relationship building with clients
- Attention to detail and organization in daily tasks
- Quick at problem solving internally and externally while managing stakeholders through the process
- Fundamental understanding of business drivers (P/L, Operating Statement, COGS, Revenue, etc.)
- Applies analytical skills to interpret data and uses independent judgment and discretion in developing solutions to a variety of work problems
