Financial Accountant

We are currently retained by a Private Equity backed multisite consumer business to support the growth of their Finance Team. As Financial Accountant, you will take responsibility for the operational accounting of the German entities and act as a central point of contact for all accounting, tax, and reporting-related matters.

The role reports to the Regional Finance Director of Central Europe, with HQ in Dusseldorf (4 days in the office, 1 from home).

About the Role:

• General ledger accounting with a focus on accounts payable, revenue recognition, leasing costs, Capex tracking, intercompany reconciliations and statements
• Accounts payable accounting and payment transactions, including the recording of incoming invoices, processing of credit notes and travel expense reports
• Participation in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, notes, management report) as well as coordination of audit activities with internal and external stakeholders
• Handling of tax-related matters in cooperation with external advisors, including tax returns, VAT advance returns, property taxes, and real estate transfer tax
• Preparation of statutory and statistical reports (e.g., Federal Statistical Office, Federal Gazette, K3/K4 reports, vehicle registration report, Bundesbank report)
• Participation in account reconciliations and ensuring compliance with internal controls within the framework of our group-wide compliance system
• Additional ad-hoc tasks in the field of accounting and tax as needed.

About You:

• Degree as a Certified Accountant (IHK) or comparable qualification
• Experience in multi-site retail finance
• At least 6 years of professional experience in financial accounting, preferably in an international environment
• Solid knowledge of accounting according to HGB and IFRS
• Confident handling of ERP systems, especially SAP and/or Oracle/NetSuite
• Solid knowledge of German commercial and tax law as well as experience with monthly and annual financial statements
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Hands-on and into the detail
