Head of ERP

I'm supporting a large-scale manufacturing organisation undergoing a multi-site long-term ERP transformation to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365 F&O).

My clients are requiring a strong and experienced F&O specialist and explicitly explained this isn't a “keep the lights on” ERP role, but a full ownership position where you will define, stabilise, and scale ERP across complex manufacturing operations from shop floor through to finance and supply chain. The position can be based remotely across Germany or the right candidate can opt to go into office in any of the 4 offices located nationwide.

You’ll be stepping into a company environment where:

• ERP is business-critical but not yet optimised
• Multiple plants operate with inconsistent processes
• Leadership needs better visibility, planning, and control across operations

Key Challenges You’ll Own:

• D365 transformation at scale: moving from legacy / fragmented systems into a unified, solid ERP landscape
• System integrator accountability: so, driving performance from external partners and ensuring delivery quality
• Data & process inconsistency: poor master data, low trust in reporting, lack of standardisation
• User adoption challenges: resistance across operations, finance, and supply chain
• Post-go-live instability: ongoing optimisation, not just implementation

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Own the ERP strategy, roadmap, and governance across the organisation
• Lead end-to-end D365 Finance & Operations rollout and optimisation
• Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and finance leadership to align ERP with real operations
• Standardise processes across production, inventory, procurement, and logistics
• Build and lead an internal ERP / D365 competency centre
• Manage system integrators, vendors, and delivery partners
• Drive data integrity, reporting accuracy, and real-time visibility
• Establish governance across:
• Change management
• Release cycles
• Testing & QA
• Risk & compliance

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven leadership in ERP / D365 programmes (industry specific experience not required)
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O (or AX → D365 transformations)

Understanding of:

• Production, Supply chain, logistics, Finance integration (plus)

Track record of:

• Leading large ERP transformations
• Managing SI partners and vendors
• Driving business change and adoption

Ability to operate at both:

• Strategic level (roadmap, governance)
• Hands-on level (programme recovery, delivery challenges)
