Senior Project Operations Lead — Strategic Energy Infrastructure

Düsseldorf, Germany | Major Infrastructure Programme | HVDC / Energy Transition

This is not a conventional project management role. We’re looking for a senior operator to take ownership of the day-to-day execution of one of Germany’s most significant energy infrastructure programmes — a complex HVDC transmission project at the centre of Europe’s energy transition.

You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, construction, commercial delivery, contractors, client stakeholders, and site operations, ensuring the programme keeps moving across every front.

This role is for someone who thrives in high-stakes environments where timelines are critical, coordination is complex, and the scale is enormous.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Leading operational delivery across the full project lifecycle
• Coordinating cross-functional teams, contractors, and external stakeholders
• Driving execution across civil works, construction, commercial, and technical interfaces
• Managing programme risks, timelines, budgets, reporting, and delivery priorities
• Acting as a senior interface with clients, EPC partners, and site leadership
• Ensuring alignment across parallel workstreams and major infrastructure interfaces
• Maintaining oversight of quality, HSE, and contractual obligations
• Providing executive-level visibility on project performance and operational strategy

In reality: you are the person making sure the entire programme functions.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years leading complex EPC or infrastructure projects
• Background in energy, utilities, civil infrastructure, industrial construction, or similar sectors
• Experience managing large-scale, highly regulated project environments
• Strong commercial awareness alongside technical understanding
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and delivery teams simultaneously
• Strong communicator with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
• PMP / PRINCE2 / IPMA or similar certification is advantageous
• Fluent English required
• Comfortable travelling regularly across Germany
